The operator of Narita International Airport near Tokyo on Monday unveiled fast lanes to allow selected foreign passengers pass smoothly through immigration.
The fast-lane service, a measure included in a government action plan for tourism promotion, started at the airport in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, on Wednesday.
For the time being, the service will be limited to participants to international conferences and up to five people per flight chosen by each carrier.
Those given special coupons issued by Narita International Airport Corp., the airport operator, through air carriers and conference organizers will be able to use the lanes.
A total of eight fast lanes will open at the airport’s Terminal One and 2 buildings.
