Elderly driver injures 7 in Tokyo

An elderly driver has run over pedestrians in Tokyo's busy district of Kichijoji, reportedly injuring 7 people.

The incident took place at a pedestrian crossing on Friday afternoon.

The Tokyo Fire Department says all the injured are conscious. They range in age from 2 to over 80.

The Metropolitan Police Department is questioning the 85-year-old driver, who was arrested on the spot. He was headed to JR Kichijoji Station from a nearby department store parking lot when the incident happened.
