Namba Yasaka is one of the most peculiar shrines that is worth photographing in Japan and is located in Osaka.
The sanctuary has been revered as the tutelary deity of the Namba district, although it has no records of its original foundation.
The Namba Yasaka is known as the “Lion Sanctuary”, as it houses the huge statue of the head Ema-Den. The 12 meter high by 11 meter wide statue has become the symbol of the shrine, as well as a popular photo spot in Osaka.
Inside the lion’s mouth is a type of stage where various events related to the sanctuary are held throughout the year.
It is believed that the lion’s wide open mouth devours the evil spirits of worshipers and asks for victory and success.
Namba Yasaka is a 15-minute walk from Dotonbori. If you want to see an article about this point known as the “radiant heart of Osaka”, touch here .
