The small town of Chatan, in the central area of ​​Okinawa Prefecture, about 15 km from central Naha, the capital, has 3 beaches. One is Sunset Beach, next to the American Village complex. 

The place is so famous and so frequented that there are direct buses from Naha Airport. 

From this wonderful complex you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets of the Ryukyu archipelago, as besides the beach there are cafes, hot springs, restaurants and hotels that provide this spectacle of nature.

All this space can be enjoyed during a day of leisure, walking and stopping in stores to shop, from souvenirs to fashion and gourmet. It’s all very tempting as it has American brands that are not present elsewhere in the country.

If you like hamburger get ready. You will be delighted with the best, pure beef preparations. Sandwiches can be simple, but also real towers to satisfy the hungry. 

And of course, to go with it, one could not miss the famous potato chips, also in Uncle Sam’s country style. 

And if you like steak get ready to taste the chops or T-bone with that juicy kebab and steak. 

What is interesting is the relaxed atmosphere of the decoration of the environments, always referring to the American culture of the past decades or those that marked the epoch. 

There are hundreds of colorful places

The commercial buildings in the area are called Depot Island, ranging from A to E and also Seaside. Try to find your favorite store or restaurant on the upper floors as well. 

There are other buildings like Akara, Vessel Hotel, Distortion Fashion, Vallage House, Chatan’s, Ouk Fashion, Distortion Seaside and others, with convenience stores, drug stores, Blue Seal ice cream and even bar and disco. 

Between one building and another there are always wooden benches to sit on and pause for a walk.

As the military must return by midnight to their bases, everything closes there before that time. So if you plan to eat and drink, do so until around 9pm. Otherwise you risk not being able to serve yourself anymore. Near the American village has a steak house, Fogo Brazil , where you have a beautiful view.
