3 killed in crash in expressway tunnel in Mie

Three people died Wednesday after a crash involving three vehicles including a large truck in a tunnel on an expressway in Mie Prefecture, police said.

A minivehicle hit a truck from behind on the Shin-Meishin Expressway around 6:30 a.m., and then overturned, colliding with a passenger car in another lane, the police said.

The three male victims were all in the minicar, the police said.

The drivers of the truck and passenger car were not hurt but a woman riding in the passenger car sustained minor injuries.
