Rodrigo Duterte to visit Japan from Sunday

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is to visit Japan for 3 days from Sunday to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga announced the arrangement on Wednesday.

Duterte is to chair a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, in November.

Suga said the Philippine president’s visit will provide a good opportunity for the 2 leaders to discuss problems facing the region and the world ahead of the ASEAN summit and related meetings.
