McDonald’s Japan is turning to stay-at-home wives as the restaurant industry struggles with a severe labor crunch.

Homemakers joined a session at the restaurant chain in Tokyo to get a taste of what it is like to work there. The company says stay-at-home wives account for just 20% of its part-time workers.

It wants to attract tens of thousands more homemakers in a nationwide campaign that lasts till the end of October, to make up for a fall in student recruits.
