French authorities are scrutinizing developments that may have resulted in the recent break-up between a Japanese woman missing in France and her Chilean former boyfriend, who is suspected of killing her.
A month has passed since 21-year-old Narumi Kurosaki, who was studying in Besancon, France, went missing. She is a student at the University of Tsukuba, near Tokyo.
French prosecutors say they are searching everywhere. They suspect the Chilean man, whose name has yet to be disclosed, may have killed Kurosaki after some kind of trouble in the relationship. They have put him on an international wanted list on suspicion of killing her.
The prosecutors told reporters on Tuesday that they have learned the two first met at the university in Tsukuba. They add the two broke up only recently.
They say they have clues pointing to what may have happened on the night of December 4th, when the man is believed to have visited Kurosaki’s dormitory.
The suspect has since returned to his home country.
