Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 40-year-old man who is suspected of sending a variety of garbage through the mail to former classmates in a revenge plot for bullying, reports TV Asahi (Nov. 30).
On 70 occasions between August of last year and last month, Shigeta Miura, a resident of Musashino City, allegedly mailed rotten tea leaves mixed with dirt and women’s underwear to a 40-year-old acquaintance.
According to police, Miura stuffed the various items of garbage into an envelope addressed to the victim and posted it without stamps.
Police suspect that he sent more than 500 packages to a total of four persons who were in the same Boy Scout troop with him in elementary school, according to TBS News (Nov. 30).
Miura, who has been charged with violating a public nuisance ordinance, told police that he committed the acts in revenge. “It was due to a grudge for being bullied, such as eating lunch alone,” he said.
