Online firm launched to pitch Japan to foreigners

Three major Japanese companies have launched an online source of information to help people abroad learn more about Japan. Travel agency JTB, logistics firm Nippon Express and department-store operator Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings jointly established Fun Japan Communications. The new company takes over a web service previously run by Nippon Express and boasting around 330,000 members outside Japan. The company will use it to disseminate information about tourist attractions, culture, technology, food and cosmetics. They hope their efforts will help lure more tourists from abroad, deepen understanding of Japan, and increase exports to other countries.
