The boy who was left alone in a mountain forest in Hokkaido, northern Japan, for 6 days, has been discharged from hospital.
Yamato Tanooka was flown to the hospital in Hakodate City on Friday after being discovered in a hut at a Ground Self-Defense Force exercise range.
He left the hospital with his parents on Tuesday afternoon, with doctors and nurses seeing the family off.
He told media assembled at the hospital that he felt fine and wanted to play baseball.
The boy’s elementary school will consult his parents to determine when he can return to classes.
The school plans to offer counseling to the boy because he may have suffered psychological stress.
His parents said they abandoned their son in the forest as punishment for throwing rocks at people and cars during a picnic.
