Japanese skiers and snowboarders took part in an unusual downhill race at a ski resort north of Tokyo that included their pet dogs.
About 70 parents and children, along with 48 dogs, took part in the race in Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, on Sunday.
The participants on skis or snowboards raced down a slalom course marked with flags, as their dogs ran alongside through the snow.
Some dogs were hesitant at first to run on the snow. But others were so excited that they finished the course before their owners.
One woman said it was difficult to control her dog on the winding course. She said she and her dog had a great time.
