The category ended 2015 with 116,381 units, a growth of 28.9 percent from 2014’s 90,287 units sold.

“Sales grew in this segment as new car models were introduced and financing strategies were intensified throughout the year,” CAMPI said.

The commercial vehicles segment also had a 20 percent boost with 16,218 units compared to the 13,470 units sold in December last year. Overall sales grew 19 percent to 172,228 units from 144,460 in 2014.

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation still leads with a 43.32 percent market share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation with 18.74 percent.

Ford Motor Company is third in market share with 8.79 percent; Isuzu Philippines Corporation is fourth with 7.82 percent; and Honda Cars Philippines Inc. is fifth with 6.69 percent.
