Humanoid robot starts work at bank in Japan

A bank in Fukuoka Prefecture, western Japan, has assigned a humanoid robot the job of welcoming and entertaining customers. In a ceremony at the head office of the Kitakyushu Bank on Tuesday, President Toshio Kato read out a letter of appointment to the robot. The android responded by introducing itself as Pepper No.3, the new employee. The robot then started looking after customers, sometimes with letters appearing on a screen in its chest. It greeted people, explained financial products and even tried a few tongue-twisters. A woman said her 4-year-old son was bored before, but that the bank is now a more fun place to visit. The bank will soon deploy 2 more Pepper robots at its branches. Source and image: NHK Share this:TweetEmail
