Police arrested a man and his son in Barangay Day-as, Cebu City for allegedly manufacturing counterfeit peso bills.
The Investigation Division of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), together with Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, confiscated fake bills of different denominations from Salvador “Biddy” Ybanez and his son Alias “Buddy” Ybanez.
The suspects were allegedly selling the counterfeit bills to taxi drivers and stores. Authorities said most of the victims were also taxi drivers and tourists.
During the implementation of a search warrant, authorities seized counterfeit peso bills, scanners, photocopy machines, computers, printers, and other equipment used for manufacturing fake bills from the suspects’ house.
They were also able to seized packs of suspected shabu with an estimate value of P5 million.
Fake bills lack security features like watermarks and security fibers. They also tend to have different colors and textures compared with genuine bills.
