The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced on April 20 that the government will pay a uniform 100,000 yen to the citizens in response to the Cabinet decision on “emergency economic measures for new coronavirus infectious diseases” and how to apply for benefits.
Applications can be sent by mail or online. My number card is required for online.
The benefit will be 100,000 yen for every citizen in Japan and also for foreign residents that are registered in the resident registrar. In order to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infectious diseases and to promptly support households, we basically accept applications only by mail or online. Payment method is bank transfer. If it is unavoidable, we will also accept applications and benefits at the counter.
In the case of the Internet, specify the transfer destination account from the portal site “Miner Portal” where you can browse information about My Number and make electronic applications, upload the confirmation documents and apply. To log in to the Minor Portal, you need a My Number Card and an IC card reader for PC or a smartphone that supports near field communication “NFC” .
In the case of mail, the application form will be sent from the municipalities to the recipients. Applicants can apply by sending it back with the transfer account and a copy of their identity verification documents attached.
Reception will begin once the municipalities are ready. The application deadline is within 3 months from the start of mail reception. The application method is as of 20th and may be changed in the future.
