Local weather officials say that slight snow was observed near the top of the mountain at around 10:30 AM on Monday. It was 3 days earlier than last year, but 23 days later than the average.

The officials say the temperature at the peak was 3.5 degrees Celsius at around 7 AM.

They say that snow fell despite the relatively warm temperature, due to the effects of a rain front and Typhoon Lan, which made landfall early Monday morning.
