The weeping cherry tree in the town of Miharu is estimated to be more than 1,000 years old. It is 13 meters tall and its branches span 25 meters.
It started to bloom last week. Many tourists came upon the news that the blossoms were at their best on Wednesday.
A woman from Tokyo said she had never seen such a big cherry tree.
It is often described as one of the 3 most magnificent cherry trees in Japan. It has become a motif of poems and paintings.
