Tokyo taxis to lower starting fare

Japan’s transport ministry has decided to lower the initial fare for taxis operating in central Tokyo. It’s currently about 6 dollars for up to 2 kilometers. The new fare will be about three-and-a-half dollars for up to 1 kilometer. It will take effect on January 30th, 2017.
