‘Pokemon Go’ likely behind fatal accident in Kyoto
Investigators in western Japan say a crane-truck driver was playing Pokemon Go on a smartphone when his vehicle hit and killed a woman on a mini-bike. Hiroki Negami, 47, has been charged with negligent driving resulting in death for an accident that occurred in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto Prefecture, in September. Illustrative image Investigators said Negami failed to carefully check traffic after stopping for a red light. He hit the bike, dragging the 39-year-old woman for about 130 meters. They say Negami admitted playing the game while he was stopped for the red light, and he wasn’t aware he hit the bike. His smartphone’s history list also showed he played the game. In October, an elementary school boy in Aichi Prefecture was also killed by a truck driver who was allegedly playing with the game. The boy’s family members are among those demanding the government impose tighter penalties for such driving offences....
