A Philippine government delegation has inspected Japan’s latest broadcast technology, including a high-definition TV format.
About 10 officials accompanying President Rodrigo Duterte in Japan visited the NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo on Wednesday.
They watched a Rio Olympics program on 8K Super Hi-Vision monitors. NHK led the development of the technology.
The visitors were also briefed on a system for sending quick alerts about earthquakes and tsunamis.
3 years ago, the Philippines became the first Southeast Asian nation to adopt a Japanese-style terrestrial digital broadcast system. The country is training personnel and building infrastructure to expand the system’s network.
Martin Andanar, the secretary of the Philippines’ Presidential Communications Operations Office, expressed hope to bring Super Hi-Vision technology back home.
