Police in Tokyo’s Meguro Ward are looking for the person or persons who left a newborn baby boy on a park bench on Monday evening.
According to police, a man walking his dog in Himonya Park at around 6 p.m. found the baby with its umbilical cord still attached wrapped in a towel on a bench, Fuji TV reported. The man called 110.
The infant was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition on Tuesday, police said.
Police are examining nearby street surveillance camera footage to try and identify who brought the baby to the park.
The park is about 800 meters from Toritsudaigaku Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line.
