Guinness World Records has confirmed that smartphone game app “Pokémon Go” set five world records since its global debut last month, including the number of downloads.
The worldwide number of downloads of the game reached some 130 million during the four weeks from July 6, when the game made its global debut in the United States and some other countries, making it the most downloaded mobile game in the first month.
Pokémon Go also generated revenue of a record 206.5 million dollars during the period, including through sales of items that give players advantages in the game, according to the official site of the private world records-certifying body.
Guinness World Records confirmed three other world records, including the number of mobile download charts around the world that the game topped simultaneously in the first month.
According to U.S. research firm Sensor Tower Inc., the first-month sales of Pokémon Go were twice those of “Clash Royale,” the previous best-selling smartphone game, and seven times those of popular puzzle game “Candy Crush Soda Saga.”
