As a part of an ongoing investigation into a man and woman accused of repeatedly abusing of her daughter, Fukuoka Prefectural Police on Tuesday re-arrested the couple for forcing her to eat goldfish, reports Fuji News Network (Feb. 16).
In early June of last year, Yuko Ogata and her common-law husband, Takashi Egami, forced the girl, who was 16 at the time, to eat 30 goldfish after they were killed in an aquarium with detergent inside the residence they share in Kurume City.
Egami denies the charges, while Ogata admits to the allegations, telling officers from the Kurume Police Station that the girl ate the fish with her husband, according to Nikkan Sports (Feb. 16).
According to police, the incident was a part of repeated acts of “discipline” meted out by the couple. Refusal to comply with the treatment on the part of the girl resulted in beatings by the couple, according to Nippon News Network (Feb. 16).
Egami and Ogata, who have been arrested a total of five times, are currently under prosecution for ill treatment of the girl. In October, the suspects are accused of forcing her to eat ice cream and eggs until she vomited. The month before, they allegedly confined her to a room by tying her to a bed. The girl was also punched and burned with a lit cigarette.
