Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has been awarded best actor in the US Academy Awards in his 5th nomination in the acting category.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences held its 88th award ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles.
DiCaprio won Best Actor Oscar for survival drama “The Revenant”.
He had 4 previous nominations since 1994, but the honor had eluded him.
The Best Picture award went to “Spotlight”, a film about journalists at US newspaper Boston Globe who uncovered child sex abuse by Catholic priests.
Action movie “Mad Max: Fury Road” won 6 technical awards including editing and production design.
It is the most-awarded film in this year’s Oscars.
In the Animated Feature Film category, US studio Pixar’s “Inside Out” beat “When Marnie Was There” by Japanese director Masahiro Yonebayashi and 3 other nominees.
