An armed man dressed as a woman robbed a pedestrian on a street in the city of Ogaki, Gifu Prefecture, but returned some of her cash before fleeing the scene, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred shortly after 12 a.m. on Sunday. A man dressed as a woman approached a 31-year-old woman walking alone on a street and threatend her with a scissors-like sharp object, Sankei Shimbun reported. He demanded she give him all her cash.
The woman obliged and handed over her wallet, but as the man began removing the bills from it, she requested that her cash be returned. The man then gave back 4,000 yen and fled the scene quickly, police said.
The woman said that the perpetrator had long, brown hair and was wearing a black skirt and black tights. He appeared to be in his 30s and was about 170 cm tall.
The woman suffered no injuries in the incident, police said.
