A ticket machine for foreign tourists has appeared at a Tokyo subway station.
The trial machine was installed at a station near the Tokyo Metropolitan Government office on Monday.
A 32 inch screen, which is more than double the size of regular machines, displays information in Japanese, English and Chinese.
The user can see fares and routes after touching the names of stations or tourist spots.
A guide was at the trial to answer questions and carry out questionnaires.
An American in her 50’s said the machine made it easier to find her destination.
The Tokyo government will continue the trial until the end of March. It then plans to install more of the vendors at major stations popular with tourists.
A senior Tokyo official said they will make improvements based on people’s responses, as Tokyo expects more tourists for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
