A young boy was injured in a grenade blast in Barangay Kayaga in Kabacan, North Cotabato Wednesday evening.
The grenade was allegedly lobbed by motorcycle-riding perpetrators in front of a gasoline station located near a newly-installed Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Kabacan PNP Chief Police Senior Inspector Ronnie Cordero said the grenade blast injured a five-year-old boy onboard a multicab that passed by the area when the explosion occurred.
The boy is now out of danger as he only sustained a minor injury.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, an improvised explosive device (IED) was successfully disrupted by the explosive ordnance disposal Team in Barangay Dalingaoen in Pikit, North Cotabato.
The IED was discovered by locals around 8 p.m. in a corn field five meters away from the national road.
Authorities said the IED is made out of a 60-millimeter mortar, wires, batteries, and a cellphone as its triggering device.
